We have three points of service in our community:
Service Point #1 – To Inform & Entertain our audiences! With 7 Radio stations, CRG serves more extensive and different audiences than any other media group in Springfield!
Service Point #2 – To help our advertisers sell more goods and services! We estimate that 40% of all the Radio listening in the Springfield area happens on our stations. We’re also the only media group that does specific “Intent to Purchase” research on each of our 7 different audiences to help advertisers improve the effectiveness of their marketing investments.
Service Point #3 – We are committed to super-serving the Springfield community. Our stations have a strong focus on local events, issues, entertainment, civic functions, as well as, charitable causes. We take pride in being an important part of the fabric of our community! We also love taking part in community events and getting behind local causes that affect our listeners. Some of our local programs include;
Radio Shares the Love – Capitol Radio Group highlights a different charity every month through on-air promotions, our websites, social media and on-air interviews.
Friends and Neighbors program – The stations of Capitol Radio Group offer free advertising to charities that apply to the “Friends and Neighbors program!” We help them market and promote their upcoming events.
Cooling the Capital – Each summer Capitol Radio Group stations collect fans to distribute to those in the community who do not have air conditioning or have a general need for fans during the hot weather.
Christmas Wish – Each December WYMG grants Christmas wishes to those in the community who need a little help! Local heroes who find themselves in challenging situations are given assistance in a variety of different ways.
Radiothon – Each year WDBR, WTAX and 101.9 The Wolf join forces to raise money for kids treated at HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital! Over 1.7 million dollars has been raised for programs, equipment and more at St. John’s.
Play it forward – in 2023, Capitol Radio Group partnered with Downtown Kiwanis and the United Way to collect used sports equipment to distribute to underserved kids in Springfield, IL!
Warm your Hearts giveaway – Heartland Heating and Cooling and Capitol Radio Group teamed up to grant a needy family a free furnace (complete with install!).
Radio Readers – Each year Capitol Radio Group personalities go out into the community to read to the kids in classrooms! Kids are taught the importance of reading and also granted a free book.
Best of the Capital – Each year Capitol Radio Group honors the top businesses, organizations and individuals with the “Best of the Capitol” awards!
Talking Business over Coffee – Capitol Radio Group General Manager Chris Bullock highlights local businesses with the “Talking Business over Coffee” podcast.
Little Miracles 5K – Capitol Radio Group has raised over $150,000 for babies treated at HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital NICU with the Little Miracles 5K!
Community Calendar – We love to promote all the wonderful events happening around Central Illinois with the “Community Calendar” on all our websites!
Movies in the Park with the Springfield Park District – Capitol Radio Group promotes (and broadcasts live at) Movies in the park each summer.
Each year our group donates over $600,000 in Public Service advertising to a variety of different non-profit groups and agencies!
